[...snip...]

The 6400 and 6500 looked like little refrigerators. All of these had
603 and 603e processors, the low-power, lightweight PPC chip with
fewer transistors than the 601 and 604. Think:
603 - Geo engine
603e - early Honda CVCC engine
601 - Dodge slant 6
604 - Chevy 283 V8
604e - same engine with a turbo
G3 - the upgrade to the 603; think nitro fueled 4-banger
G4 - the upgrade to the 604; a serious drag racer
G5 - Able to leap tall buildings with a single bound

The Quadra/Centris models were 68040 chips, think small motorcycle.

The MacPlus, Classic and pre-plus models had a 68000 chip. Think moped.

The Apple II had a 6800 or other early chipset; think electric wheel chair.

The Timex/Sinclair was a bicycle with a flat and no chain.

The Amiga had the 68000 and 68020 chip (I believe) but had been
through Barris Kustom Rods and was quite the performer.
