Taking some inspiration from various marketing and other successes I
thought up a few more alternate name candidates last night:
1.) Deegetal Uneex ('cause we don' need no steenkeng Weendoz)
2.) "I Can't Believe It's Not Ultrix!" (Get back some of those DECStation fans)
3.) DECStep
4.) DECSODENT (So what if 4 out of 5 other vendors picked SysV?)
5.) Mercedrin (Relieves the pain caused by common Intel OSes)
6.) DECTRON (Defender of the Computing Universe! Take a loss on the hardware
and the OS, but more than make it up with a series of action
figures)
7.) DEC-O-BELL (Want Some?)
8.) Preparation-U (Relieves those painfully inefficient memory usage
inflamations and discomforts caused by other OSes)
9.) "Actimates' Barney Ultimate Accessory Package" (Hey, DEC's partnered with
MS before, so why not make
the ultimate leap of
faith?)
10.) Meownix (target a whole new and unexploited marketplace for computing with
millions of potential new customers!)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disclaimer: Of course, these are just some wildly speculative mental
meanderings which only represent my own fevered wild
imaginings (doubtless induced by that fifth cup of
coffee...) and are only really fodder suited for fans of
Conspiracy Theorists Weekly and their ilk (the rest of you
can direct your attention back to BillyBoBob Brains' plan
to revitalize DEC and to TAKE OVER THE WORLD)
